Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate
Supervised by Lauren Barron, Ph.D., LMFT-S
Welcome! I’m Amara McPherson, a Marriage and Family Therapist Associate with a passion for helping families, teens, and individuals heal, grow, and reconnect.
For over five years, I’ve had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, couples, and families across a range of life experiences—from navigating crisis and trauma to building healthier communication and deeper relationships. I specialize in working with teens and families who are feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in painful cycles. Whether you’re a parent trying to support your teen, a couple feeling the strain of family life, or someone carrying unhealed wounds from the past, I’m here to help you move toward healing with compassion and care.
I also offer dedicated support to postpartum moms and parents adjusting to the challenges of early parenthood, including birth trauma, grief, and identity shifts. Parenthood can be a profound transformation, and it’s one of many transitions I help clients move through with greater clarity and self-compassion.
In my work, I draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), the Satir Growth Model, and 12 STR—approaches that focus on embracing your authentic self, improving family dynamics, and healing from trauma at the root. I take a holistic, mind-body-soul approach and am happy to incorporate your spirituality or faith into the process if that’s meaningful to you.
At the heart of my work is deep listening. I truly love hearing people’s stories and holding space for the parts of them that long to be seen and understood. If your family is hurting, your teen is struggling, or you’re simply ready to feel more grounded in yourself, I’m here to walk that path with you.
