Ashley Malone M.MFT, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
As a therapist, I strive to create an environment where you will be met with empathy and non-judgement. I want you to experience counseling as a place where you feel heard and understood. It takes risk and bravery to share your deepest struggles with another person; however what can be experienced through this process is new insight, new ways of coping or change that can bring healing and hope for the future.
In my work with children and adolescents, I approach parent/child interaction and change through attachment theory and systemic perspectives. I utilize a variety of evidence-based methods such as Child- Centered Play Therapy, Parent Child Interactive Therapy (Filial Therapy), sand tray and expressive arts. I have experience working with children and adolescents who struggle with anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger, grief and loss, trauma, parental divorce, blended families and a variety of other life adjustments.
In working with adults and/or couples, I prefer a client-centered approach that utilizes Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and Gottman Method Couples Theory as well as Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral therapy and Dialectical Behavioral therapy. I have completed Level 1 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. I have experience working with adults and couples who experience anxiety, depression, substance abuse, phase of life adjustments, grief and loss, miscarriage, infidelity, divorce and blended family challenges. I have lived overseas and appreciate cultural diversity as well as understand the challenge of adapting to a new home and country.
I have a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University and am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT) and Texas Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (TAMFT). I am LGTBQ+ friendly.
When I’m not in session, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our two children and our two Goldendoodles who are basically just two additional children. I am an avid reader, life-long learner and coffee drinker who enjoys time with friends, family and traveling to new destinations.
I look forward to meeting you and walking with you through your journey.
